Many people across the globe struggle with bladder disorders. While it’s a common issue, it can be very frustrating to deal with throughout your day-to-day life. Botox injections have grown in popularity not only for cosmetic purposes but also as a treatment for an overactive bladder and urinary incontinence.

For years, the urologists at Urology Associates of Cape Cod have provided innovative treatments such as bladder Botox injections for patients across Plymouth, Cape Cod, New Bedford, Wareham, Fall River, Boston, MA and the surrounding communities. Whether you have frequent urination or feelings of urgency, our team has all the proper knowledge and tools to help.

What Does a Bladder Botox Treatment Involve?

This type of bladder treatment can be completed in the office with the use of local anesthesia. To begin, the anesthesia is placed via a catheter and remains in the bladder for 20-30 minutes to numb the bladder lining. Once 20-30 minutes have passed, a small scope (about the size of the catheter) with a camera is placed in the bladder through the urethra. Then, a series of injections of the Botox solution are inserted into the muscle of the bladder using a small needle. Overall, the injection procedure takes about five minutes or less.

Benefits of Bladder Botox Injections

  • Reduce or eliminate urinary incontinence episodes.
  • Reduce or eliminate feelings of severe urgency.
  • Reduce urination frequency during the day and night.
  • Reduce or eliminate needing a pad for urinary incontinence.

Overall, about 75% of people experience a reduction in their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
